Confirming command of the programme language of instruction

In order to undertake studies in foreign languages it is required to submit a document confirming candidate’s level of competency in the programme language of instruction, unless it is verified during the interview. Candidate needs to possess such document upon registration.

Programmes in Polish

Besides programmes in foreign languages, we have very wide offer of programmes in Polish. In case of foreigners applying for admission to first-cycle and long-cycle (undergraduate) programmes in Polish, the basis for being exempt from taking part in the interview verifying their level of competency in Polish, is being - upon registration - in a possession of the document recognized by the university, certifying that level of competency. The interview is a mandatory part of admission process for second-cycle programmes. Passing the interview with success equals confirming the required command of Polish language by the university.

List of documents confirming command of Polish at least at B2 level:

  • Polish Matura certificate;
  • certificate of completion of a one-year preparatory course for studies in Polish, granted by the language schools appointed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, e.g. a certificate of completion of a one-year preliminary course by NAWA scholarship holders;
  • official certification of the Polish language competence (certyfikatpolski.pl). Obtaining the certificate at C1 level enables its holder to undertake full-time studies in Polish without having to pay the tuition fee;
  • certification obtained after successfully passing the exam at the JU Center for Polish Language and Culture in the World;
  • higher education diploma in the field of Polish Philology (Polish Studies);
  • higher education diploma, if the language of instruction was Polish;
