Doctor of dental surgery program for high school graduates (DDS)

Programme description

The 5-year long DDS programme lasts 10 semesters and includes over 5000 class hours and 300 ECTS points. Within the course of studies students receive knowledge in the field of basic sciences as well as clinical disciplines that enables graduates to take up practice as dentists. Retaining the medical character of the programme whilst orienting it to the professional dental fields is of great importance. Teaching is conducted exclusively in English, using information technology with reference to both the circulation of medical documentation and logistics of the patients of the University Dental Clinic, as well as to managing the didactic procedures carried out by the Chair of Dentistry of the Faculty of Medicine of the JU MC.

Graduate’s profile

Graduate possesses basic knowledge in the field of medicine and advanced knowledge in the field of dentistry. S/he is capable of: providing professional dental care; planning, implementing and assessing preventive and therapeutic care as part of the promotion of health and pro-health education. S/he may undertake postgraduate studies. The graduate can work in health care institutions, didactic-research institutes and research-developmental institutes. Upon obtaining the appropriate qualifications is allowed to practice as a doctor of dentistry.

Qualification rules

To be eligible for admission to this programme, candidates are required to be holders of:

  1. Document confirming knowledge of English language on the B2 level required for undertaking studies, provided that secondary education was conducted in language other than English. CEFR B2 level must be confirmed by the following certificates: IELTS—at least 6.5 points; TOEFL iBT—at least 87 points and at least 3.5 points from the TWE essay; TOEFL PBT—at least 510 point from the test part (for computer-based test at least 180 points) or equivalent.

    Candidates from Scandinavia present their high school diploma grades. Minimum grades for candidates from Scandinavia:

    • Norway—4
    • Sweden—C (VG)
    • Denmark—7

    If a scandinavian candidate does not hold a required grade in English, they are required to present one of the documents indicated above, confirming required English command.

  2. High school-leaving examination certificate or diploma of secondary education, which entitles its holder to be considered for admission to medical or dental (MD or DDS) programs in the country or state it was obtained in.

  3. Chemistry, and Biology or Physics courses completed during secondary and/or supplementary education and confirmed by a certificate including grades, or by entry in diploma of secondary education.

Candidates are placed on the ranking list in order determined by the number ranging from 0 to 100, equal to candidates’ results from written entrance examination in Reasoning and Critical Thinking in Pre-medical Sciences.


Application fee

The application fee is 26 USD (or 100 PLN, or 23 EUR). The fee is paid separately for each registration and each registration has its own bank account number assigned for the payment.

Tuition fee:

  • tuition for the first year: 11 000 EUR (approx. 12 550 USD)
  • tuition for the second year: 11 000 EUR (approx. 12 550 USD)
  • tuition for the third year: 12 500 EUR (approx. 14 300 USD)
  • tuition for the fourth year: 13 000 EUR (approx. 14 800 USD)
  • tuition for the fifth year: 13 000 EUR (approx. 14 800 USD)
